The proposed works would be to the detriment of the natural shape, form, and flow of the tree's canopy, and therefore to public amenity
Unnecessary tree works should be avoided to minimise the chances of detrimental impacts on the tree's vascular system, potentially leading to the ingress of harmful pathogens and decay, or the activation of latent pathogens or decay fungi
The proposed branch removals are likely to lead to xylem dysfunction i.e., disruption of the tree' vascular system, resulting in increased hydraulic stress. The works are therefore considered unacceptable.
The proposed works would mean a reduction in the tree's leaf area resulting in the reduced availability of carbon and other products from photosynthesis. The proposed works would therefore be considered to be to the detriment of the tree's overall health and are therefore not considered acceptable.
The tree's size, appearance and canopy distribution has changed very little over the last 10 years. The circumstances in which the tree grows have not changed. There is nothing to suggest that the tree is or has become less safe/stable over time.
The tree grows in a publicly prominent location. Its removal (or reduction) would be to the detriment of public amenity and the Malvern treescape
