Condition Details / Information Notes
In some circumstances, the use of invasive investigatory techniques, such as a Resistograph, may be justified. However, where non-invasive investigatory techniques can be employed, such as sounding the trunk of the tree with a nylon mallet, they should be used in preference. With this particular tree, sounding the tree's stem provides a sufficiently clear picture of the extent/distribution of decay within the tree, in order to be able to make informed judgements about its future arboricultural management. The use of a Resistograph, as proposed, is therefore not considered to be acceptable.
No permission is needed for the removal of dead parts of the tree
